DO NOT FINANCE THROUGH REEDS!!! Word to the Wise
I went to Reeds Jewelers awhile back and this young lady Megen was very very helpful I had no clue what exactly my fiancee wanted for a present. she tried explaining it to me I had no clue. Megen asked me to see a picture of her to see what style she had. soon as I describe it to Megen she new and really help me out, my lady is picky and loved it. if anyone goes there ask for her I'll definitely be back because of her and that great store atmosphere.
As for the other Iddeal credit card, they have not damaged my credit, however there is one big catch. You can only use in-store, no online purchases. Is this the 21st century? I can't purchase through Reeds.com? Again maybe my logic is flawed here? Apparently they're in business not to do much business... Anyway I've since moved to South Florida, the closest Reeds is 3 hours away... Apparently I have to drive 3 hours once a year and make a minimal purchase to keep this account from damaging my credit as well. I can safely say that I am definitely not a satisfied customer and will never make a significant purchase at Reeds until these impractical and unethical business practices are addressed.
My experience was awesome as always with the best Jeweler around. Gina Schmidt Matt & the rest of the employees. Love my new jewelry. Thank you
I purchased an engagement ring Jan 2016 for around $15,000.
I went to see Gina at Reeds because my husband got me a serious ring upgrade after 7 years of marriage. Gina nailed it! I am obssessed with my ring and wouldn't change one thing about my ring, I love it! Gina took about 2 hours to really customize and personally design my ring the way I envisioned from finding the PERFECT band to ordering the PERFECT FLAWLESS stone and then resizing it and having it ready the next day! She even managed to redesign my original wedding band and took its look up aesthetically 100 notches. Gina is the best, go see her for your dream diamond! I promise you won't be disappointed!
I am not used to going to such a large jewelry store and was hesitant to the whole thing but walking in to Reeds everyone is standing and welcoming you with smiles all around. Gina especially! Words can't even describe how professional, personable and caring. You really have to work with her to feel the whole experience with her. She works with you on matching your dream with your finical situation. She makes you feel like family not a price tag. Thank you Gina and being such a great asset to Reeds Orchard Park!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE save your self from making the mistake I made and do not finance through Reeds. Hope this helps at least one person!
Long story short the engagement fell through and I was left with an Iddeal Credit Card (backed by Comenity) and a Reeds Credit Card (backed by Sychrony Bank). Both with a zero dollar balance. A couple weeks ago my credit monitoring notified me of a 13 point hit to my credit. Needless to say I wanted to investigate and rectify the situation. Upon finding the cause I contacted Synchrony and and was told the account had been closed due to inactivity by their automated system. (without any kind of notification I might add) I kindly asked to re-active because I intended to use it for my mothers birthday present. They said they had no possible way to re-active the account, and that I would need to apply again (another hard inquiry - credit damaging) I said no, re-active my account please as I have had this happen some years ago with a Home Depot (backed by CitiBank) and it was not an issue, took less than 5 minutes. After hours of arguing with Synchrony support staff and wasting enough of my time; I decided to contact Reeds customer relations and try and leverage their business relationship with Synchrony. No luck their either, basically the answer I received was to try and work it out with Synchrony and they would not put me in contact with whomever manages business relations. I'm scratching my head at this point... Do they want my business??? Apparently not! Maybe my logic is flawed here, but isn't the purpose of a business to make the customer happy for repeat business and word of mouth referrals? A store card that you are forced to make yearly purchases on is certainly one way of getting repeat customers, and if they don't use it, damage their credit?! Definitely not ethical business practice IMHO.
